Megan Whitmarsh – Yeti Logic

Yeti LogicYeti Logic is a sampling of Megan Whitmarsh’s embroidery shown in a manner meant to imply geometry, stacking and interlocking elements such as bricks, legos or crystal formations. In this invented world, elves wear tiny gold necklaces and yetis visit discos; in lands inhabited by icebergs, crystals, rays and forests. Her themes can best be visually described as scenes of fantasy characters existing amongst the detritus of the modern world. They can best be conceptually described as the artist’s attempt to reconcile the ataxia of themodern world. They can best be conceptually described as the artist’s attempt to reconcile the ataxia of the modern world with an optimistic vision of the future dictated by an internal logic and supernatural iconography. Socializing yetis, elf girls and boys make and examine large sculptures and geometric crystal forms that reference both scientific and spiritual structures. Having grown up in the 70’s and 80’s, the artist, like many of her generation, uses the visual noise of her youth as inspiration, rather than the history of painting. | 160pg

Clayton Brothers – Caught Being Good

Clayton Brothers
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Clayton Brothers, Rob and Christian combined forces to execute and collaborate on their shared visions of life beneath the superficial glaze of suburban culture. Using a universal, visual vernacular of superstition, institutional irony, story telling and urban legends, and combining stories from the lives they have witnessed, their paintings and installations hint at past worlds fleetingly glimpsed from train windows and interstate highways. Worlds where souls have crossed paths and stories have been abandoned. The Clayton Brothers are driven by an unknown narrative. Their paintings are created to tell overlooked stories and to ultimately reveal their own.| 240pg

Alexander Egger - Tomorrow will be better than today

TWBTT
An exercise in detecting reality: A basic vocabulary of associative oscillations taking lost, found, deleted, erased and sorted out imagery as a starting point. Suspended in time, At the same time exposed and intimate, distant and blurred because of too much closeness, figurative and abstract, obscuring and revealing, vague and concrete, razorsharp and faded out, volatile images take shape and manifest themselves waiting for a further reprocession by the recipient. The images reference to the reality of the depicted objects leaving vague traces which can be picked up and processed by somebody else. But photographies can not be more a representation: Picured reality presents itself as absence in the presence: The reality of an image is passed out and already gone at the moment of being watched. That belonging to the past might lead to a melancholic and nostalgic longing sometimes. The visible is too obvious and limited to attract any interest.| 240pg
